About The Winery

Country: France
Region:
Burgundy

As the owner of the largest holdings of grand cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, Hubert Camus is known for incredible wines. The Camus family has been producing wines in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1832. The domaine is made up of 18 hectares (two-thirds of it being grand cru). Camus is the "Grand Cru Master" and one of the most respected winemakers in Burgundy, crafting exceptional expressions of the Pinot Noir grape. He has spent a lot of time and effort working with the French government and with winemaker organisations in order to ensure the quality standards of all Burgundy wines.

Born in 1937, Hubert started full-time at the domaine after completing his military service. He took over from his father in 1974. He was the founding president of the BIVB and would go on to become a three-time president.

Today, the legacy of the domaine rests firmly on the shoulders of his daughter, Marie-Edith. As the last of the Camus family line with no descendants, this valiant and robust sexagenarian carries the formidable weight of the historic estate. For the sake of history and tradition, she manages the daily realities of the domaine with quiet strength, ensuring that their renowned Pinot Noir continues to reflect the family's enduring dedication to the terroir.
