About The Winery

Country: France
Region:
Languedoc-Roussillon

"Maison de la Villette" is a charming tribute to the old working-class district of Paris, once the bustling hub where wine merchants would arrive by barge to supply the city's bistros. Crafted by Badet Clément (founded by Burgundian winemakers Catherine and Laurent Delaunay) this brand bridges the gap between the rustic warmth of the South of France and the elegance of Parisian culture. This Cabernet Sauvignon is not your austere Bordeaux, it is a child of the Mediterranean sun.

Terroir: A dual selection: grapes from the flat plains of the Aude provide richness and jammy fruit, while vineyards in the cooler foothills of the Cévennes add freshness and structure.

Style: A generous and approachable red that marries the natural structure and black fruit intensity of Cabernet Sauvignon with a velvety texture softened by the Mediterranean sun and a touch of sweet oak.

Vinification: The grapes are destemmed and fermented at controlled temperatures. A portion of the wine is aged in French and American oak for 6 months to round out the tannins and add subtle toasted notes without overpowering the fruit.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A deep, dark ruby red with purple hues.

Nose: Expressive and inviting. It offers classic varietal aromas of cassis and blackberry, enriched by warm notes of mocha, toasted vanilla, and a hint of licorice.

Palate: The attack is fleshy, dominated by ripe black fruits. Unlike its cooler-climate cousins, the tannins here are supple and melted. The finish is savory and slightly spicy, with lingering flavors of cedar and dark chocolate.
