About The Winery

Country: France
Region: Champagne

The Pascal Machet estate is a dedicated, family-run grower Champagne house situated in the premier cru village of Vaudemange, on the eastern edge of the Montagne de Reims. Driven by a deep respect for their ancestral land, the family meticulously manages their vineyards to craft authentic, terroir-focused wines. The "Origine" 1er Cru Brut cuvée is crafted exclusively to showcase the distinctive character, superior quality, and historical roots of the estate's top classified vineyard sites.

Terroir: The grapes for this cuvée are strictly sourced from vineyards located exclusively within Premier Cru classified sectors. The vines here benefit from an exceptional geology characterized by a profound, highly pure chalky subsoil. This deep chalk provides unparalleled drainage while acting as a vital reservoir of moisture during dry periods, imparting a magnificent balance, elegant structure, and a distinct, piercing mineral tension to the wine.

Style: A multi-varietal blend composed of Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.

Vinification: The winemaking is tailored to express the fullness and maturity of the Premier Cru fruit. Following a precise manual harvest, the initial fermentation is carefully controlled. After bottling, the wine undergoes its secondary fermentation and enjoys an extended period of aging on its fine lees in the estate's cellars. This patient maturation is absolutely essential for developing the deeply comforting, pastry-like complexity that defines this cuvée, which is finally finished with a classic Brut dosage to perfectly round out its profile.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A shimmering, pale golden hue with a dynamic, fine, and beautifully airy stream of bubbles.

Nose: Incredibly generous, rich, and deeply inviting. The first nose is dominated by comforting, warm aromas of fresh pastry, golden brioche, and tender butter biscuits. As it breathes in the glass, it reveals a beautifully ripe, secondary layer of yellow-fleshed orchard fruits.

Palate: Generous, mature, and perfectly balanced. The attack is rich and mouth-coating, instantly delivering the luscious pastry notes promised by the nose. The mid-palate reveals highly sophisticated touches of toasted almond, warm gingerbread, and a hint of quince paste, all perfectly lifted by the vibrant, chalky minerality inherent to its Premier Cru origins. The finish is remarkably long, elegant, and deeply satisfying.
