About The Winery
Country: France
Region: Languedoc-Roussillon
With the "Cour des Dames" collection, the Burgundian family Delaunay (Badet Clément) pays homage to the poetic heritage of the South of France. While Malbec is currently famous as the star of Argentina, its roots are deeply French. This cuvée reclaims the grape's identity, proving that the Languedoc can produce a Malbec just as compelling as its South American cousins. Sourced from the sunny vineyards surrounding the medieval city of Carcassonne, this 2024 vintage benefits from the region's warmth to ripen fully, shedding the rustic harshness sometimes associated with the grape in favor of a velvety, modern profile.
Terroir: The vineyards are located in the Aude valley on clay-limestone soils. The climate here is a mix of Mediterranean heat and Atlantic influence, which is crucial for keeping the Malbec fresh and preventing it from becoming "jammy."
Style: A distinguished and characterful red wine that marries the intense dark fruit and peppery spice typical of Malbec with a supple, rounded texture gained from the Mediterranean sun.
Vinification: A long maceration period is used to extract the deep color and structure. The wine is then aged for approximately 6 months in French oak barrels to smooth out the tannins and introduce subtle notes of toast and chocolate.
