About The Winery
Country: Switzerland
Region: Valais
If the Fendant is the daily bread of the Valais, the Petite Arvine is its crown jewel. At Domaine de Beudon, this indigenous Alpine grape finds perhaps its most extreme expression. Grown on the estate’s precipitous granite cliffs, these "Old Vines" are farmed biodynamically, a practice the Granges family pioneered in Switzerland. The 2023 vintage delivers a wine of striking duality: it possesses the solar ripeness of the vintage while retaining the razor-sharp, crystalline acidity that is the hallmark of the Petite Arvine grape when grown on rock.
Terroir: The vines are rooted in granite and gneiss in the commune of Fully. While Petite Arvine is often grown on limestone to accentuate body, the siliceous soil here sharpens the wine, giving it a piercing verticality and a "salty" mineral character.
Style: An intense, vibrating white wine. It is unpolished and energetic, bottling the raw power of the mountain. Like other whites from the estate, it usually carries a touch of natural carbon dioxide to preserve freshness without heavy sulfur.
Vinification: Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel. The winemaking is low-intervention, focused on preserving the varietal's unique aromatic profile without masking it with oak.
