About The Winery

Country: Lebanon
Region: Bekaa Valley

Château Marsyas is a remarkable venture, founded in 2005 by the Saadé family in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Nestled at the foot of Mt Barouk, the estate spans 55 hectares of prime, high-altitude vineyard land in one of the world’s oldest winemaking regions. The family enlisted renowned Bordeaux wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt to guide the development of their project.

While not certified organic, the estate follows many organic practices, in particular, no use of pesticides or herbicides. Cereal crops are planted between the rows to enrich the soil with organic matter and improve aeration. By working with classic noble varieties and farming sustainably, the Saadé family strives to produce wines that truly reflect the exceptional terroir of Château Marsyas.

Climate: High altitude Mediterranean - warm days and cool nights, ideal for ripening berries and preserving natural acidity.

Terroir: Rich clay-limestone soils, vineyards at around 1,000 meters altitude.

Tasting Notes

Type: Red Wine
Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Viticulture: Organic Farming

Hailing from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, this is a beautifully structured full-bodied red. While this wine is an 8-year-old "big boy," it still has a bright ruby color. It's built to last, and with a bit of time to breathe, it unveils powerful layers of flavor. Look for an explosion of red fruit, with notes of vanilla and cassis and an endless finish.
