About The Winery
Country: France
Region: Champagne
Barbier-Louvet is a traditional Récoltant-Manipulant (Grower Champagne), meaning they grow their own grapes and make their own wine, ensuring distinct character and traceability. This estate is located in Bouzy, one of the most prestigious Grand Cru villages in the Montagne de Reims, famous for producing powerful, structured Pinot Noir. The "Cuvée d'Ensemble" is the house's signature non-vintage wine. It represents the harmony of their terroir, combining the two noble grapes of the region to create a Champagne wine that is both vinous and elegant.
Terroir: The grapes come exclusively from Bouzy Grand Cru. The soil here is deep chalk, but the village's south-facing slopes allow for excellent ripening, giving the wines richness and body.
Style: A balanced and consensual style. It marries the structural power and red fruit character of Pinot Noir(approx. 60%) with the finesse, acidity, and floral notes of Chardonnay (approx. 40%).
Vinification: As a grower champagne, the focus is on the fruit. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity and make it creamier. It typically includes a significant portion of reserve wines (older vintages) in the style to ensure consistency and complexity.
