About The Winery

Country: France
Region:
Languedoc-Roussillon

Continuing the tribute to the refined Occitan ladies of the Middle Ages, this Sauvignon Blanc encapsulates the elegance and freshness of the "Cour des Dames." The Badet Clément team, led by the Delaunay family, applies their Burgundian rigor to this ubiquitous grape, aiming to avoid the varietal's tendency towards greenness or simplicity. Instead, they seek a "New World" explosion of aromatics tempered by "Old World" balance. Sourced from the varied landscapes of the Languedoc this wine captures the vibration and light of the South.

Terroir: A careful selection of plots: vines near the Étang de Thau provide salinity and citrus notes, while vineyards in the Orb Valley offer richness and tropical fruit flavors due to the clay-limestone soils.

Style: A crisp and highly aromatic white wine that balances the exotic intensity and grassy freshness of Sauvignon Blanc with a distinct mineral tension and a rounded mouthfeel derived from aging on fine lees.

Vinification: The grapes undergo a short skin maceration to extract maximum aromatics before pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at low temperatures to preserve freshness. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for a few months to add texture and volume.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A pale, crystalline yellow with distinctive green reflections, a hallmark of the variety's freshness.

Nose: Explosive and stimulating. It leaps from the glass with notes of exotic fruits and citrus, intermingled with classic varietal hints of boxwood, fresh cut grass, and blackcurrant bud.

Palate: Lively and thirst-quenching. The attack is sharp and clean, driven by a zesty acidity. However, the mid-palate reveals a surprising roundness and fruit weight, finishing with a long, clean aftertaste marked by a saline twist.
